FacebookI fell in love with the Trasimeno area of Umbria in my late teens, transfixed with its breathtaking landscapes, warm exuberant people, delicious food and incredible traditions and festivals. I returned every summer I could and prayed on leaving that it would stay the same. Would keep it’s freshness and purity.
Resist commercialism……. and it did!
Fourteen years ago we bought a house here and saw Umbria through the eyes of residents. It’s not been all plain sailing but I have absolutely no regrets and now, forty years since that very first visit, my love for Umbria, it’s people, culture, tradition and lifestyle is as strong as ever.
That’s some kind of recommendation!
I take no commission from anyone mentioned on my site. I do it because I love writing about the place and people I love.
Here are some of the most beautiful landscapes you will ever see.
Here you will mingle, not with tourists, but with warm convivial local people who still have time to meet in the piazzas and markets and bars for a chat
Here are hill-top towns steeped in history, in culture, in art and cuisine. Places where time has slowed down. Where family matters. Where there is no age divide.
Here is THE place if you are passionate about food and wine! If you enjoy colourful traditions and festivals. If you love walking, or water sports, fishing or sightseeing or painting or photography …. or simply relaxing.
If you want to experience the ‘real’ Italy!
Do take time to explore our ‘places to visit’ section on the menu and watch the slideshow below which features on my special area on the borders of Umbria and Tuscany. Trasimeno.
You won’t be disappointed!
